Patient choice is a core way for the NHS to bring down waiting times and ensure it can once again meets its target to treat 92% of patients within 18 weeks. However, public awareness of patient choice remains low, with over 4 in 10 people unaware that they can choose where to receive their NHS treatment, including in an independent/private hospital which delivers NHS services.

Given the key role MPs playing in supporting their constituents, we are keen to improve their understanding of how patient choice in the NHS works so they can better support their constituents to exercise their right to choose.
